    shipping chinchillas

A lot of people have asked about shipping chinchillas. As many of you probably know, chinchillas are VERY sensitive to heat and can easily become overheated and die of heat stroke. For this reason shipping a chinchilla during summer months is EXTREMELY dangerous. I can not imagine a worse experience than receiving a dead or dying chinchilla because it overheated during the shipping process.

Even when traveling in a car chinchillas can become extremely distressed, so the stress alone from shipping a chinchilla is not advisable during any time of the year. So what to do if you found the perfect chinchilla online and it is miles or states away? Or if you have difficulty finding a chinchilla in your area? There is a solution! The Chinchilla Railroad can help.

The chinchilla railroad is a group of volunteers who help safely transport chinchillas form one location to another. The network is fairly extensive and they are always looking for more volunteers. So if you have a vehical and would like to help ensure chinchillas are transported safely, please visit http://www.chinformation.org/railroad.html
