I know that a lot of people out there with chins just are not sure who to turn to and how to find a veternarian who has with experience with chinchillas. It is important to find one in your area that knows about chinchillas and how to properly evaluate and care for them.
A regular vet that mostly works on dogs and cats likely will not be familiar with a chinchillas sensativity to heat and other health issues and warning signs of a sick chinchilla. My personal experience with trying a regular vet was frustrating and in some causes it could be fatal. I found this
chinchilla vet list on chins-n-quills.com very helpful. It lists vets with chinchilla expertise all over the US and the world. Unfortunatly, the site this was listed on is gone :( . I recomend
Dr Julie Bergeron http://www.vetcor.com/ . She owns a chinchilla so you should be in good hands if you are north of Boston :)
